Stop Animal Testing

Dear David,

In 1981, PETA’s Silver Spring Monkey case heralded our arrival as a powerful new force for animal rights. It also, for the first time in the United States, sent a clear message that animals in laboratories cannot be tortured and killed with impunity.

You can help double our efforts to help animals in
laboratories. Donate now, and your gift will be matched,
dollar-for-dollar. Today, because of your support, PETA is leading the fight to protect animals from the horrors of animal testing. And through this special online "Stop Animal Testing" Challenge, we can secure twice the resources needed to confront those who still conduct these needless and cruel experiments.

We’re only $102,247 from our goal of $250,000 in this online challenge, in which every gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar. Please make your gift now.

The Silver Spring Monkey investigation, in which we uncovered the horrific abuse of 17 macaque monkeys, resulted in the first arrest and criminal conviction of an animal experimenter in the United States on charges of cruelty to animals. It also led to the first confiscation of abused animals in laboratories and the first U.S. Supreme Court victory for animals in laboratories.

In the years since, with your help, PETA has put a stop to the cruelest experiments imaginable, compelling some of the biggest companies in the world to adopt more humane practices. Our investigation of a huge contract-testing laboratory in Philadelphia and our subsequent campaign led to Benetton’s permanent ban on animal tests—a first for a major cosmetics company. Other leading companies, including Avon, Revlon, and Estée Lauder followed suit.

We compelled General Motors to end its use of animals in cruel crash tests. Our negotiations led Coca-Cola and PepsiCo as well as juice-makers POM, Welch’s, and Ocean Spray to agree to stop performing and funding experiments on animals. As of today, PETA has received more than 700 signed statements from companies promising that they will not test on animals.

If history has proven one thing to corporations and others who still test on animals, it’s that PETA and supporters like you will relentlessly fight for every animal who is trapped in cruel and needless tests. By making an online gift in this special challenge, your donation will go twice as far to help us push more companies to stop experimenting on animals once and for all.

Your support of PETA’s efforts have prevented the torture and deaths of millions of individual cats, dogs, monkeys, pigs, mice, and other animals. But countless more remain at risk of being poisoned, burned, dismembered, and killed by vivisectors, and our job isn’t done until all of them are out of harm’s way.

By donating to PETA today
, you will help us double our efforts to stop animal tests. Don’t miss this vital opportunity to have your gift matched, dollar-for-dollar.

Thank you for working with us to make a world in which no animal lives in pain and terror in laboratories.

Kind regards,

Ingrid Newkirk

P.S. I am counting on you to help us secure desperately needed funds in this special online "Stop Animal Testing" Challenge, which we will use to end the suffering of animals trapped inside cruel laboratories. Please donate online now for your gift to be matched and help us to stop the abuse and prevent the deaths of animals who are trapped in laboratories.
